The Reserves looking for a win to retain a top five spot but the Tigers had other ideas kicking six goals to one in the first half before a large supportive crowd. The Tigers were too quick across the ground and maintained the pressure in the second half with seven goals to two to earn fifth position on the ladder, the Rebels falling to sixth, Alexandra 3.3 – 21 to Yea 13.6 – 84.
Awards: Shepparton Volkswagen – Robert Andrews, Ampol fuel card – Cooper Phillips, Alexandra Hotel – Tyson Pedlar, Buxton Hotel – Jayden Saggin, Sportspower – Joshua Crane.
The Seniors were missing a number of players but started well with three goals to two but the tone of inaccuracy was set early as the Rebels kicked three goals from eight scoring shots which would come back to bite at the end of the game. The Rebels, having lost Ryan Lucas for the game and Will Johnson also hampered by injury, added four goals to three in the second quarter to lead by a couple of goals at half time in a good game of local football, a large crowd entertained by Carlton’s Harry McKay umpiring the Auskick during the break. The Tigers played inspired, hard-working football in the second half and kicked six goals to three and took the lead in the dying minutes of the game, holding on to win by four points at the final siren, Alexandra 10.12 – 72 to Yea 11.10 – 76.
