BENALLA All Blacks coach Ben Wapling is hoping for a fairytale finish to his five year stint with the Panthers the chance to hold the premiership cup aloft on September 15.
But even if his side cannot claim the ultimate prize, Wapling will walk away after three years as head coach and two as assistant a fulfilled man.
"Really I made up my mind that this would be my final season at the start of the year," Wapling said.
"The club sat down with me halfway through the year and asked my thoughts, so they have known for a little while.
"I've been involved for five years now, and I just feel like the time is right.
"If I'm honest with myself I think I've taken it as far as I can and it's probably time for some new blood."
