NORTH Wangaratta will head into tomorrow's clash with King Valley confident of reversing the result of the last meeting between the two clubs.
The Roos recorded a nine-point win over the Hawks at Whitfield in round eight, with Jono Rea, Adam Williams and Brendan Sessions playing the small ground beautifully and chalking up 11 goals between them.
But North Wangaratta ruckman Jamie Bell, who missed that game through suspension, said tomorrow's match would follow a different script.
"We just let them take the game away from us in the first half," Bell said.
"Williams would have had 35 touches and really set them up we need to make sure we stop him, as well as Sessions.
"But we're not going to be negative.
"We will play our own game, but just make sure we're accountable."
The Hawks suffered a surprise loss to Tarrawingee a fortnight ago before bouncing back with a 108-point thumping of Goorambat last weekend a performance Bell rated among the side's best this year.
"Against Tarrawingee I just thought we were a bit flat we couldn't get going after halftime," he said.
"They were the better side on the day and they deserved to win the match.
"I was really happy with the way we came back last week I think it was the second best team performance that we've had.
"The win over Whorouly was our best, but we played a really good four quarter game against Goorambat."
Richard Findlay and Matt Smith combined for 15 goals against the Bats, and Bell said the forward line operated as well as it had at any stage of the season.
"I don't want to give anything away, but we did things a little bit differently," he said.
"Rich and Smithy were terrific.
"They train super hard out on the track, and they've both been in great form."
The Hawks regained David Steer last week, along with Lachlan Canning.
With new recruit Phil O'Keefe settling in well and skipper Tyler Harries set to return to the side tomorrow, Bell said the side was in good shape.
"Tyler has only played two games this year because of a knee injury," he said.
"It will be great to have him back he's a very smart player.
"He's been working hard, and was probably right to come back against Tarra, but we wanted to give him a bit of extra time.
"Phil has been a great little player he's a real surprise packet.
"It's like he has glue on his hands the way he just grabs the ball.
"He had a great battle with Ben Reaburn on the wing last week, and it was good to see him get the points against one of the league's best young players."
Bell, whose wife Amanda gave birth to the couple's first child, Archie, two weeks ago, said fatherhood hadn't affected his football.
"It's been really good," he said.
"There have been a few sleepless nights, but as soon as you get out on the ground and the adrenaline starts pumping, the lack of sleep doesn't affect you."
Given their draw, a win tomorrow would almost certainly see the Hawks sew up their spot in the top four.
"King Valley is going to go in thinking the same thing," Bell said.
"So we really need to be on our game and make the most of our opportunities so we can get that eight-point buffer."
