WHEN Tatong Football Netball Club vice president Shane DeFazio asked Seamus Boland if he'd like to have a kick he wasn't aware of the talent he had stumbled on.
The Irish born recruit has only been in Australia for 18 months and while he played Gaelic Football in Ireland, Boland had never played Aussie Rules until he played his first game for Tatong just three weeks ago.
Boland is the first to admit he is still not real sure of the rules but knows he has to get the ball and kick it.
Still, he is having a lot of fun and loving getting out there and having a go.
The nuggety player has proven to be quite the recruit so far as he received best on ground honors in the reserves' first round win over Glenrowan.
Since then Boland has moved into the senior side and while they haven't got the results they were after, the Irishman has continued his strong form.
"Seamus really gets into the play - he wants the ball and puts his head in there," Tatong assistant coach Matthew Way said.
The Tatong Football Netball Club has welcomed Boland with open arms and look forward to seeing just how much he can do as he develops as a player as he starts to understand the game more.
