JUNIOR footballers got a chance to sharpen their skills before the season officially kicks off in their respective leagues this weekend.
The Alpine Eagles' Ovens and King squad played a practice match against the Bright under 16s before the senior sides took to the field on Easter Saturday, and it was the younger side who came away with a seven point victory.
Bright's young charges used their solid preseason to advantage after the Eagles boys struggled to make an impact early in the match.
The two sides also had assistance from Myrtleford juniors and visitors to the town, who enjoyed the opportunity to have a kick during the school holidays.
This week the Ovens and King under 18 competition gets under way when the Eagles play the Southern Suns away, while the under 14 and under 16 competition kicks off in Bright on Sunday against Myrtleford.
