WHILE it hasn't been as proactive as some clubs in the off-season, Greta has been busy on the training track with coach Daniel McLaughlin delighted with the efforts of the playing group.
After a disappointing end to the 2011 season, the Blues were one of the first teams on the track with the aim of boosting its fitness base.
Heading into his second year as coach, McLaughlin said all was going well and he was pleased with the way things were going in the lead up to the new Ovens and King football season.
"We have been averaging about 25-30 at training but we've had about 45 train all up so numbers are really good for us," he said.
"We are working on our fitness and looking to improve that.
"It's good because we have got a good mix of youth and experience now.
"We have the young guys but we also have guys with OandM and GV experience."
While it may still be January, McLaughlin has wasted little time setting up practice matches for March with clashes against Tallangatta and Wahgunyah planned.
"It looks like the cricket boys will be playing finals this year," he said.
"We might not have them but we'll wait and see.
"We are hoping to get a third game as well."
