THERE were no big upsets in round 14 of Ovens and King netball, but there were a few close results that will have consequences heading towards finals.
Bonnie Doon staked its claim as the unluckiest side in the competition, coming away with its third draw of the season after finishing its match against Bright locked at 35 goals apiece.
The Doon Dogs got on top early, with Meaghan Tanner, Chantal Lindsay (25 goals) and Brenda Webster all influential, but they simply couldn't shake Bright off.
With Sera-Maria Paterson, Tamara Jones and Kirstie Iaria leading the way, Bright fought its way back into the contest, and came from four goals down at the final change to split the points.
Incredibly it wasn't the only draw for the day at Bright, with the two clubs also tying in the B reserve match.
It was a result that could hurt the Doon Dogs, who would have moved into the top eight with a win.
GOORAMBAT kept its top four hopes alive with a narrow victory, edging out Tarrawingee 40-38.
While the Bats looked to have the upper hand early on, they were unable to get any real breathing space, and the match stayed close.
In the end it was the poise of players like Allison Ellis, Kelsey Moss (23 goals) and Kate Brunt that saw Goorambat win despite the enormous pressure applied by the Bulldogs.
Lisa Kerlin, Megan Gamze and Megan Jones were among Tarrawingee's best players.
WHILE it remains winless at the bottom of the ladder, Tatong displayed its continued improvement with a positive showing against Glenrowan.
The Tigers won the match 50-31, but it was a big improvement from Tatong over the last meeting between the two sides, which Glenrowan won 62-22.
Casey Brown (34 goals) was once again on song in attack for the Tigers, along with Jacinta Miller and Alison Thiel, while Cheree Tregoning and Emma Warnock set the example for the Magpies.
WHOROULY welcomed back Kerry Newton for its match against Swanpool, and the star shooter hardly missed a beat, pouring in 41 goals in the Lions' 60-37 win.
Sally Chalmers, Sarah Newton and Kelly Cousins were all pivotal for Whorouly, while Meagan James, Rebecca Bradshaw and Brooke Bradshaw ensured the Swans were competitive from start to finish.
IN other matches, Kyra Hunt (25 goals) starred in Milawa's 70-33 win over Benalla, Jenna McLeod was best on court as Moyhu had a 37-goal victory over North Wangaratta, and Lindsey Tanner's 39 goals helped Greta cruise to a 68-41 triumph over King Valley.
