2005 UNDER 17 NETBALL UNDEFEATED PREMIERSHIP
Tocumwal were undefeated Premiers in the MLNA Under 17 Netball Competition, defeating Mulwala in the Grand Final by 13 goals. It was sweet revenge as Mulwala had defeated them the previous year in the Preliminary Final.
The young Bloods had been together for a number of years, basically playing together since Netta days so were well drilled and skilful.
Their only threats were Finley, who won the Grand Final the year before and Mulwala, a strong netball club that had dominated junior grades for a number of years.
Peta and Paula Gowans were the coaches but the girls often trained with the A Grade team which honed their skills further.
They were a very competitive and determined group of young ladies and were very dedicated to achieving their goals.
They were athletic, intelligent and a fit team.
They played Mulwala in the second semi final and won by 2 goals. Mulwala played Finley in the preliminary final and the Bloods were hoping Mulwala would win as they felt they had the Lions measure but Finley worried them. Mulwala won and the Bloods confidence was well placed as they were too good in the decider, winning by a comfortable 13 goals.
