Welcome Bloods supporters as we host Rumbalara on our home patch in what will be a big day for both clubs who are evenly matched in many of the grades.
Everybody get to our rooms tonight for the best home cooked meals ever, lovingly prepared by the netball ladies followed by the 43rd Annual Trivia Night, that promises to provide the most challenging and controversial questions in its long history. Don't worry if you have not got a table, rock up to be part of a team that could win prizes bigger than SOTC, WWTBAM, TPIR, DOND & MOTB combined.
Under 14's - Well what can we say about this game apart from our littlies were outclassed and outsized by a big Congupna outfit. Fighting through the fog to start the game the boys had it all against them. It is still good to see them fight the game out to the end in trying conditions. Keep it up!
Under 17's - Fantastic understanding from all at Congupna last week. We wish you well for the rest of the season.
Great effort by our fellas' - taking on the undefeated Congupna, tremendous effort to keep them to their score. Good to see "Messy" back in form that we know he is capable of. Excellent application from the "Trae & Rick" Show - Imagine what they would be like if they found our ground on a Tuesday and Thursday night more often!! With "Have-A-Chat" Harro at one end and his mate "Bunny" firing - we were looking good in patches. We are getting continued improvement from the whole group which is a real positive.
Hopefully we have some players back from "QLD-Canada-snow-mum's place-the girlfriend's - we may be looking for a better result against the very improved opposition today.
Question: Was that our senior player - #25 - being escorted off a Navy boat at Christmas Island last week? Sid thinks so!!
Rumbalara today - a great spectacle for all to see. Enjoy your game!
Reserves - OC's Magoo's enlisted the help of thirds boys in Messy B, Jesse B, Ricky P, Reecey M and Harro C who all worked really hard after a tough slog in the early game.
Although outclassed by a well drilled Road unit the guys kept their heads up and battled it out in the very wintery conditions. Jesse Bunnett and Harro Close were fantastic and when you have two 17 year olds asleep in the car before arriving back in Toc it's an indication they have had a fair crack, while the veterans in Brian Simo and Busty Bobby B at the tender age of 43 having a nanny nap on the way home might be an indication that you simply need more sleep at that age. Joshy C showed he can play the game being terrific on the last line of defence and Fast Eddy Thomson was not only fast but furious nailing many strong tackles throughout the day while big Damo had his best game for the year.
Seniors - Being conscious of not repeating myself but last Saturday's senior game against the Road continued the trend of the previous few weeks in that we were mostly terrific in the contested ball area and provided some quality passages of play but all too often turned it over through either poor decision making or skill errors and were made to pay by a handful of quality opposition.
It seems the harder it gets the better Choco is getting. His skills were outstanding in the conditions and even with a corky and a fair poke in the eye he was fighting it out until the final siren as he has done all year.
Ollie, Ollie, Ollie has been fantastic over the last 3 weeks while Sam Hatty more than held his own against the bigger opposition bodies. The K Train had a go all day wihile Pica pipped his fellow hairy hunk sniffa up forward with a career high 3 sausage rolls and a specky that required Sharmy having to administer him the oxygen after he got up that high. Stevie P's hands were so cold he decided to use his head to smother with great effect although I don't think it will be catching on anytime soon.
A huge thanks to both ET and Mouse who doubled up without much of a run in pretty crappy conditions - very admirable fellows and did not go unnoticed.
A date to remember - Our AGM will be held this year on Wednesdday 15th August at 7pm at the footy rooms. Please make this date a priority as we need all the support we can get from our players, members and supporters.
