Under 14's - It was a great effort by our young side and the ball managed to get into our forward line quite a few times, unfortunately we were unable to convert it to a score on the board. We will get there! Once again a great effort by our senior boys and our younger boys are all starting to step up so keep your chin up young Bloods. Thanks to Brett for umpiring our game.
Under 17's - A big thank you to Mulwala who played the game in great spirit and sportsmanship. Jordan Haynes was a best a field in the ruck, he ran from contest to contest all day. Jordan is having a fantastic year, keep up the good work Jordan!! Other players to play well were Jake Brasher, Steve Patten, Jesse Bunnett and Jake McCallum.
Reserves - We started the game off welcoming back two club stalwarts in Matt McWhinney and Reece Hardwidge and with Toddy, Eddy and Jordy backing up after already playing a full game of the U/17's.
Mulwala got the dream start with 11 first quarter goals. The Bloods were under pressure losing Mitch with a knee who was one of our best along with Ben Lucas and Jared Tenney in their 2nd game for the club. With Rod doing an ankle and the remainder battling hard Toc were no match for the Lions. Better players being Bob, Kyle and Jack Shannon.
Seniors - What great weather we are having at the moment. We welcomed Muggas back to the team this week. With plenty of hard work for the backs early with Scottie, Davie and Mugga holding firm, keeping the Lions to only two goals. Ash Pollard had a good quarter on the wing.
The second quarter saw Toc start well with goals to brothers-in-arms John and Ben. With Whitey, Harey, Leeroy and Ash winning plenty of the ball and Daiks having a good battle on his wing, things were starting to fall into place. With Choco linking up with Jossy Toc hit the front for the first time. Good pressure from Daiks resulted in a turnover with Ben Shiels kicking his 2nd.
An even battle to start the third quarter when Mulwala kicked 2 in succession before Stammers got one back. The Lions were finding the goals more frequently and finished the quarter in front by 22 points.
The backs were working hard to keep Mulwala out until James got his first for Mulwala. The Lions finished stronger with Rick continuing to improve and Whitey, Leeroy, Harey and Dave all battling hard.
Congratulations to Jeremy (Pica) Cardillo on his 100th senior game for the Tocumwal Football Netball Club. Pica has been a great supporter and player for the club over the years. He is currently into his third year as the U/17 coach and is held with the utmost respect by these boys. He is also a current committee member that puts in when needed, he has organised all the social functions this year which is great to see by a current footballer. Maybe other people need to take a leaf out of his book. Well done Pica and hopefully we can make it a memorable one for you.
This week we travel to Barooga. Let's show some pride and fighting spirit for the red and white and come home with the four points on the board. After the game we will show some support back to one of our sponsors by reading the awards out at Kelly's Pub. Let's get behind one of our sponsors and get there after the game.
