Under 14's - The boys had a tough start to the day as we were five kids down. Bryce Meloury was back from injury which was good to see and all of our young brigade stepped up well against a large Barooga centre. So keep your heads up Young Bloods we will get there.
Under 17's - The game started well for the Bloods with plenty of backline pressure. The ever reliable Daniel Morgan stood tall in defence in a best on ground performance. Jordan Haynes was winning most of the tap outs but we couldn't seem to take advantage of it. Keiran Andrew floated across half back and cut off plenty of the Barooga delivery. Nathan Morton had his best game for the year on the wing bouncing back up after a couple of hard knocks. Will McDonald became a utility playing both forward and back, giving 100% all day. Well done to the boys and keep your heads held high.
Reserves - Firstly thanks to Barooga for their support re: numbers in the twos. It was an even first quarter with the backs again keeping the Hawks to only two goals. Bobby, Brad, Reece and Choco having good quarters. The battle continued with Barooga making more of their opportunities in front of goals. Haydos rucked continually all day and the endeavour by all pleased coach Roe. Bobby and Brad supported by Deano and Cannons worked hard down back. Ben with a nice goal and Reece playing solid on ball roles kept the enthusiasm up. Barooga too strong in the finish.
Seniors - Congratulations to Jordan and Jack on their first senior games for the club. Chapman vs Harvey lightened the excitement with Barooga scoring early goals before Pica opened for Toc. Kenny Chellew snapped one out of mid air to start the second quarter. The general play saw both sides fairly even until Kenny kicked his second for the quarter followed up by one from Leeroy.
The third quarter started with a goal apiece followed up with Kenny's third before a clever goal from Harvey. A long goal from Jason Kerr however Harvey kicking 3 for the quarter was the difference. Losing Harey to a knee on 3 quarter time made our task that bit harder for the last. With Harey and Whitey sidelined and Jason, Leeroy and Nathan carrying injuries our task was made much harder. Goals to Nathan, Ben and Jason were not enough to hold off the Hawks.
This week we host Echuca United at home after a much needed rest for some of our injured players. Hopefully today we will have some of them back ready to get the four points.
Congratulations to Chris Patten and Billy Andrew for making the U/16's & U/14's Murray Football League sides respectively, they will play in a carnival this Sunday at Moama.
