Whilst the scoreboard said one thing it certainly wasn't an indication of how hard the boys worked last Saturday. From start to finish the tackling pressure and helping each other was sensational, particularly compared to the previous few games. Tommy had a blinder and was well supported by Zander, Cody, Paggas and Ollie. Blair was in everything as was older brother Drew in what was an overall very good team effort from all the boys. Well done.
Congratulations to Tyler Jeffress for kicking his first goal in footy! Wonderful game from Peter Brentnall and Jess Barker. All the boys worked hard and played well.
Congratulations to Chris Russell for playing his 50th game. He had a fantastic game. Rhys Morham and Tim Brunskill had a solid game in defence. OC, Jarrod Morham and Glyn Matters played a fantastic game. Great team win from the seconds.
It was sad to hear at a recent club media event that club stalwart Bob Bourke's 582 game career had come to a premature end after another devastating hamstring injury. Bob announced that were it not for the poor kicking skills of Nathan O'Connell his career could have continued to at least 700 games.
Media representatives overheard young gun forward, Chris Russell comment how his role would now be a lot easier without Bob leading into his space all the time.
Meanwhile, wife Tracey was looking forward to not seeing Bob on the couch all day Sunday and how she hoped to be able to finally teach Bob how to start the mower so that the neighbours didn't have to mow the grass all the time for her.
Bob closed the event by stating that with all his new spare time his aim was to coach all the club's football sides simultaneously to build club unity and if that's successful he might also take on the netball coaching as well.
