Finals fever is in the air and what a feeling it is!! Blooders this is what we have been waiting for and it has been a long time coming!! To the seniors, U/17's in footy and U/13, U/15 and A Grade netballers good luck this weekend on what will be the beginning of your finals quest. Let's all get around these players and support them with style.
Last Sunday saw another great family day and major raffle, with an appearance from Norman the Nutcracker Bucking Bull, the scene was set for a cracking day! The kids gave poor old Norman a fair old work out but at the end of the day it was old Norman that won!! The egg catching was a hit with plenty of laughs! A few of the boys got showered in eggs and some were absolute bouncers!!
Winners of the cash were 1st - Micky O', 2nd - Pete McDougall Syndicate, 3rd - Rob Crow Crew and Matt & Trish Wooden picked up the $100 for first ticket drawn. In the on the day raffle Rod Meloury scored the $1000. All were deserving winners and great supporters.
With the club holding its AGM last week we welcome Ashley Crawford back to the Top Job as president, Nathan O'Connell along with Trish Wooden have stepped up and taken on the role of Vice Presidents, Deb Garlick is back in the familiar role of Secretary and Minister of Finances once again is Katrina Chellew. With a few inclusions and omissions to the committee line up a huge thank you goes out to the people that have worked hard this year.
Tonight it's back to the Terminus Hotel for a few post match drinks and a feed. Don't forget the club vote count is coming up on the 13th Sept. Juniors starting at 4pm with seniors to follow at 6pm.
SENIORS - All the focus turns to today and the challenge is there for the boys. The opportunity to play finals footy is what we have worked hard for and here it is! To the senior boy's credit they have stuck pretty thick all year and hopefully our close knit group can play some good footy that they can play. Good luck to the boys today and let's turn it on!!
MIDDAY SHOW - To the boy's credit they all - well most of them ...... turned up to see the season out. Wasn't one of our best performances but credit goes to the blokes that had a crack. A big thank you to the fellas who contributed week in week out and also to Captain Timmy Brunskill who managed to make it through the year without any major injuries. Also to the super coach in OC for taking on one of the toughest gigs in footy. To rally the boys' week in week out is a challenge in itself.
UNDER 17's - The boys came up against a very fit and strong outfit. The boys fought it out for 3 quarters with only 17 players with Tommy Manks injured in the first quarter. Troy and Billy battled hard all day, the boys should be proud to play in finals in their first year in the Picola League. Let's approach this game with confidence and work hard for each other all day.
UNDER 14's - The boys finished on a good note playing some excellent footy to record a comfortable win against the 4th placed Strathy Pups. The pressure applied to the opposition, the hard running to get to the contest to help and sheer desire to get the footy all combined to demonstrate what the boys are capable of when switched on. Daniel Robinett was brilliant at CHB, again confirming his improvement with his reading of the play and rebound long kicking fantastic to watch. Jesse E, Jesse B, Will H and Tyrone dominated the clearances and along with Tom H and Tommy B all lead the way as they have done over the season while Toby, Drew, Mitch, Daniel Mac, Riley, Baylee and James were others to feature in what was again a very even team effort with everyone doing their bit when it was their turn. As I said a nice way to end the season and we look forward to having another crack next year.
