Another couple of milestones to be achieved this weekend are - Abby Wilson on Saturday playing her 50th A Grade game and Jeremy "Pica" Cardillo playing his 200th senior game for the club. Both great achievements from both, well done and plenty more to go.
Congratulations to all our teams that competed last week at Deniliquin and Toc. We had mixed results throughout the weekend. A big thank you to everyone that helped out with our hosting of the Elimination Final on Sunday. It was great to see everyone get together and pull off what was a great day for the club.
Our race in the finals began on Saturday morning over at Deniliquin with our 15 & Under netballers ably coached by Millie Ferguson, took to the courts to play the young Deni Rovers. A bad first quarter saw us chase the rest of the game, however, each quarter following we continually improved and the gap got smaller and smaller. We need to switch on sooner and play a full four quarters this week. The last half saw great passages of play and tight defense by all. Let's go get 'em this week girls. The awards went to Madison Wooden and Gracie Reid.
Then into the afternoon our A Grade girls took to the court against the Blighty girls. What a brilliant way to start our finals campaign. Every single player went out with a task and every single player went above and beyond to accomplish a great solid win. This is just the start girls, so we need to keep up the intensity for a tough game against an extremely strong Deniliquin today. Overall, well done girls, you are amazing. Better players were Kate Bird and Abby Wilson.
Sunday at home seen our C Grade girls start their finals campaign against Picola. It was a hard fought game by the girls against a very fast Picola outfit. Second half defensive pressure was better but wasn't enough to get us over the line. It was a hugh achievement to make finals, and gives us a lot to work on for next year. Better players were Samantha Blackbourn and Amanda Reid.
The main game on the footy stage took place at the same time as the C Grade girls, but with a better result. The boys turned up raring to go and achieved what they set out to do. It was a great team effort by all, working together wonderfully. All the best today against Picola. We can do this!!!
